In September 2020, the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) will hold a virtual NCPD-accredited symposium in conjunction with the online 2020 ONS Bridge.  I am honored to be serving as a chair for this exciting event – a transformation of ONS Congress to a virtual forum.  This IMF symposium will provide the latest information and updates in multiple myeloma, sharing best practices and clinical pearls.  In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the symposium will also provide additional emphasis on infection control for patients with myeloma who are often immunocompromised.

Members of the IMF’s Nurse Leadership Board will miss coming together in person for the 13th time at the IMF Symposium during ONS Congress. But during these unprecedented times, along with a rapidly evolving myeloma landscape, timely education is more important than ever.  Through this virtual discussion, my colleagues Joseph Tariman (PhD, APRN-BC, FAAN), Amy Pierre (MSN, APRN-BC), Tiffany Richards (PhD, MSN, APRN-BC, ACNP) and I will review the diagnosis of myeloma, newer therapies with different routes of administration for patients, and emerging treatments. We will take you on a journey, beginning with an overview of current treatment recommendations for myeloma. Together, we will explore the treatment of two newly diagnosed patients, one transplant eligible and the other transplant ineligible. Next, we will highlight unique challenges faced by relapsed and refractory patients through the case studies of two patients. Finally, we will discuss treatment selection for a heavily pretreated patient.

Please join us to learn relevant and practical information aimed to help you care for myeloma patients and earn up to 1.5 NCPD (3 sessions of 0.5 NCPD). Register HERE: http://imf-ONS.myeloma.org/  Best wishes for your health and safety during these unprecedented times.
